UK Hip Hop Crew Championships
Rules & Guidelines
Crews, Teams, Duos, Trios and Quads (condensed Revised Dec 16, 2007)
- Early Entry – Closing date Mon. 14th Jan. 2008 Entry fee £10 per person per crew (£5 Bboys, Poppers/lockers)
- 2nd Entry - Closing date Thurs. 7th February 2008 Entry fee £12 per person per crew (£7 Bboys Poppers/Lockers)
- Late Entries – No entries accepted after the deadline Except, at the discretion of the event organisers at £15/ crewmember
Disqualification
Failure to adhere to the rules may result in disqualification of the enter crew, team or individual participant as appropriate.
Entry Criteria/Eligibility
- Crews must abide by the eligibility rules of the UK Hip Hop Crew Championships
- Entrants entered into international and world events are responsible for certifying their national eligibility.
Competition Fee
Competition Fee is £12.00 per competitor. (£10 if paid prior to January 14, 2008) All fees must be received no later than Feb 7, 2008. Competitors are allowed to perform in more than one category or age division (see Participation Limits below); however you must pay an entry fee for each appearance. All cheques must be made payable to iDance.
Number and Selection of Entrants/Crews
The event organizer determines the total number of crews and the entry criteria for the competition. We reserve the right to combine age divisions/categories for any reason, without prior notice.
Composition of a Crew
A crew consists of a minimum five (5) to a maximum of 8 members (8). A team consists of a minimum of 9 (nine) a maximum of 15 (fifteen) members. Bboy crews consist of 5-7 members. The members of the crew may be made up of any combination of males and females within the defined age divisions.
Age Divisions
- Open Division (International and non conforming hip hop crews, no eligibility for World Championship)
- Junior: Ages seven (7) to twelve (12)
- Varsity: Ages twelve (12) to seventeen (18)
- Adult: Ages eighteen and older (18+)
Competition Categories
- Hip Hop Crews 5 - 8 Dancers
- Hip Hop Teams 9 - 15 Dancers
- B-boy Crews 5 - 7 Dancers (no age division)
- Poppers 2 on 2 Battles (no age division)
- Lockers 2 on 2 Battles (no age division)
- Freestyle Dancers ( one on one)
- Duos, Trios and Quads
Age Requirement
A crewmember whose age falls between two age divisions in the competition year (ending December 31) may compete in either division within that year.
Up to two members in a crew may come from a younger age division than what is allowed for the division in which they are entered.
Participants must be resident in the UK for at least 6 months prior to competition (except open division).
Participation Limit
A crewmember may not compete in more than one (1) crew per age division per competition.
Forms and Releases
All forms must be returned to the organizer with the appropriate registration fees prior to the competition.
By entering all entrants acknowledge and accept the Competition Waiver and Rules
Competition Floor
The competition area is 30’ x 30’ (9.1 meters x 9.1 meters). Unless otherwise noted.
The Routine’s Length
The routine must be a minimum of 1:55 and a maximum of 2:05 from the first to the last audible sound to avoid a deduction in points.
Awards and Awards Ceremony
The top three places in each age division and category qualify for the World Championships The Hip Hop crew with the highest total score will be the Grand (overall) Prize winner, and will receive financial assistance. Financial assistance will be given to the Grand Prize Winner equal to a minimum of £1000 toward travel/accommodation There is no cash equivalent or exchange for the Grand Prize winner. By the event organiser. All decisions are final.
Complaints
Complaints must be made in writing to iDance™PO Box 234, Watford, Herts. WD17 4XJ within 7 days of the event. n the event of any discrepancy, the English version of the most current rules, as published by Hip Hop International will stand.
