Failure to adhere to the rules may result in disqualification of the enter crew, team  or individual participant as appropriate.

1. Crews must abide by the eligibility rules of the UK Hip Hop Crew Championships
2. Entrants entered into international and world events are responsible for certifying their national eligibility.

Open Division (International and non conforming hip hop crews, no eligibility for World Championship)

Junior: Ages seven (7) to twelve (12)

Varsity: Ages twelve (13) to seventeen (17)

Adult: Ages eighteen and older (18+)

Competition Fee all competitors must pay the appropriate competition entry fee. All fees must be received no later than Feb 8, 2010. Competitors are allowed to perform in more than one category or age division (see Participation Limits below); however you may, depending on fee paid, need to pay an additional entry fee for each appearance. All cheques must be made payable to iDance.

The event organizer determines the total number of crews and the entry criteria for the competition. We reserve the right to combine age divisions/categories for any reason, without prior notice.

A crew consists of a minimum five (5) to a maximum of 8 members (8). A team consists of a minimum of 9 (nine) a maximum of 15 (fifteen) members. Bboy crews consist of 3 members. The members of the crew may be made up of any combination of males and females within the defined age divisions.

A crewmember whose age falls between two age divisions in the competition year (ending December 31) may compete in either division within that year.

The ages for varsity crewmembers are now 13-17, which differs from past years when it was 12-18.  Therefore, crewmembers turning 13 in the competition year are eligible to compete as a Junior or Varsity and crewmembers turning 18 in the competition year are eligible to compete as a Varsity or Adult

Up to two members in a crew may come from a younger age division than what is allowed for the division in which they are entered.

Participants must be resident in the UK for at least 6 months prior to competition (except open division).

Crews participating in the UK Hip Hop Championship advance either from regional qualification rounds within their own region produced by idance licensees or affiliates, selections by idance representatives and/or by special invitation from idance. You are expected to participate in regional events in your area. In the event that there is no regional event in your area you may participate by special permission in the UK Hip Hop Championship prelims only after obtaining permission from idance. Regional organisers in the UK Hip Hop Championship may enter no more than five (5) crews in each age division.

• Hip Hop Crews 5 - 8 Dancers, Juniors, Varsity, Adults
• Hip Hop Teams 9 - 15 Dancers (no age division)
• B-boy 3 on 3 Dancers (no age division)
• Poppers 1 on 1 Battles (no age division)
• Lockers 1 on 1 Battles (no age division)
• Freestyle Battles 1 on 1 Juniors, Varsity and Adults
• Duos, Trios and Quads (at the discretion of the organisers - not planned for 2010)

A crewmember may not compete in more than one (1) crew per age division per competition.

All forms must be returned to the organizer with the appropriate registration fees prior to the competition.

Only HHI affiliates can forward completed registration forms and fees to HHI headquarters.  They will not be accepted if sent directly from crews or a crew studio  or family representative

By entering all entrants acknowledge and accept the Competition Waiver and Rules

The standard competition floor is 30’ x 30’ (9.1 meters x 9.1 meters) for all championship events. The competition organizer may adjust the size of the performance floor and must notify all participants in advance of the competition.  Under no circumstance will the competition floor be less than 20’ deep x 30’ wide (6.1 meters x 9.1 meters).

Attire*
Attire may include accessories such as hats, caps, gloves, scarves, jewelry, etc.  Removing pieces of clothing during the performance is permitted provided it is not offensive or out of character. Discarded clothing should be placed outside the competition area and never thrown off the stage into the audience. Appropriate under garments must be worn by all crewmembers both male and female, at all times. Clothing too short and/or too tight will be scrutinized and may be deemed inappropriate especially for overexposure of certain areas of the body and/or age appropriateness. Body oils, body or face paints or other substances applied to the body or clothing that may affect the clean dry surface of the stage and the safety of fellow competitors are prohibited. Crews may wear dance boots, sneakers or athletic sport shoes. All footwear must have clean, non-scuff soles (street shoes, dress shoes, high heels and street boots are not acceptable). Tap shoes, jazz shoes and bare feet are prohibited.  

Props
Props that are not considered an integral part of a crew’s “attire” are prohibited (i.e. canes, chairs, tambourines, musical instruments). Kneepads or any other performing apparatus to aid in the safety and proper execution of a move is allowed but concealed, when possible, so as not to detract from the performance or the judges’ concentration on the performance.  When in doubt contact Hip Hop International for clarification.

The routine for varsity and adult crews must be a minimum of 1:55 and a maximum of 2:05 from the first to the last audible sound to avoid a deduction in points.

The Junior Division routine is one minute thirty seconds (1:30).  This was originally two minutes.

The top three places in each age division and category qualify for the World Championships The Hip Hop crew with the highest total score will be the Grand (overall) Prize winner, and will receive financial assistance. Financial assistance will be given to the Adult Crew Winner equal to a minimum of £1000 toward travel/accommodation and the Varsity Prize Winner equal to a minimum of £800 toward travel/accommodation. There is no cash equivalent or exchange. All decisions are final.

Complaints must be made in writing to idance®PO Box 234, Watford, Herts. WD17 4XJ within 7 days of the event. n the event of any discrepancy, the English version of the most current rules, as published by Hip Hop International will stand.
