Provisional Schedule for UK battle and crew championships

We like to keep com­pet­it­ors and audi­ence informed about what’s hap­pen­ing, so here’s the pro­vi­sional sched­ule for UK Battle on Saturday 20^th February and UK Crew Championships on Sunday 21^st February. Please be aware that times are sub­ject to change.

Saturday 20^th February: UK Battle, James Theatre, Rickmansworth Road, WD18 7JF

12 noon: doors open for spec­tat­ors

com­pet­itor check in/registration open

12.30: 1 on 1 free­style battles begin: junior division

1pm: varsity divi­sion 1 on 1 freestyle

1.30pm: adult divi­sion 1 on 1freestyle

2.30pm: 1 on 1 popping

3.15pm: 1 on 1 locking

4pm: break

5pm: 3 on 3 Bboy battles begin, com­pet­itor check-in closes

6.30pm: free­style finals

6.50pm: pop­ping final

7pm: lock­ing final

7.10pm: Bboy final

7.30-8pm: awards and finish

Sunday, 21^st February: Crew Championships, Watford Colosseum, Rickmansworth Road, WD17 3JN

8.00am: Crew check-in, leader/representative ONLY into stage door with CD to col­lect wristbands

9.15am com­pet­it­ors, lead­ers and chap­er­ones in theatre for brief­ing

9.30am Doors open for audience

10am Preliminary rounds begin: teams

11am junior crews

12noon: varsity crews

1.15pm adult crews

2.30pm res­ults and brief­ing for finals

3.30pm pre­lims end

3.30pm-4.30pm break, every­one MUST clear theatre

5pm: Competitor re-check in (until 5.30pm)

6pm: finals begin:

6.15pm teams,

6.30pm Junior finalists,

7pm Varsity finalists,

This email was sent to me from Tara, Head of the Irish Hip Hop Dance Championships and Hip Hop International Ireland. I am reprint­ing it here, exactly as she sent it to me.

I just wanted to ask for your help with some­thing please. You might have already heard that Raw Edge have made the live shows on Got to Dance. I know Omar that you’re par­tic­u­lary proud that alot of UK crews that sup­port your event have made the live shows and I feel the same about Raw Edge.
They have been a part of the Irish Hip Hop Crew Championships since it star­ted in 2006 and they have been partly respons­ible for the great rise in stand­ard of hip hop in this coun­try. They are a great crew who rep­res­ent the whole cul­ture really well and I’m delighted that they’re get­ting to rep Ireland on Got to Dance. Now, here’s the prob­lem. Although the show has pro­moted itself as find­ing the best dan­cers in the UK and Ireland and although they even held audi­tions here in Dublin, it has now come out that the Irish pub­lic can­not vote! This is heart­break­ing for Raw Edge and we all have our hands tied! I’m just hop­ing that maybe you could send an email to your mail­ing list. I’m sure they all have crews they would like to sup­port but if you could ask them to watch out for Raw Edge and if they like what they see, please vote remem­ber­ing that ALL of us in Ireland can­not sup­port them!

If you can think of any­thing we can do, please let us know. Their live show is 31^st January.

Got to Dance Spells suc­cess for Hip Hop Crews

Formal con­grats to DNA, Jukebox Juniors, Status, and Unity Youth… Got to Dance Finalist All crews who have par­ti­cip­ated in the UK Hip Hop Dance Championships. Unity Youth were last years varsity sil­ver medal­ists, Status were varsity crew sil­ver medal­ists in 2006, DNA have been Varsity UK Champions and have been in the top three EVERY year they’ve entered the com­pet­i­tion, as have Jukebox Juniors who were also Bronze Medalists at the world Hip Hop Championships.
